Meet the

Author

Beck Leavesley is an author and artist from northeastern Michigan. Her hometown is the primary inspiration for her novels and growing up on the coast of the Great Lakes gave her a deep love for beaches, lighthouses, and break walls. When she isn’t writing, she can be found playing piano, filming YouTube videos, or devising another scheme of hints to leave for her next book.

Real people. Real stories. Real art.

Beck Leavesley never planned on being an author. Growing up homeschooled, she filled her afternoons with drawing, songwriting, and reading. Lots of reading.

In 2019, she read C.S. Lewis’s novel, Til We Have Faces. Up until that point, she had only written short stories and filled notebook pages with fan fiction. On September 13th, 2019, one of her long-distance friends told her that she had begun taking a creative writing class at school. Together, the two of them decided to write separate books at the same time.

The book that Beck started writing would later become her debut novel, Noontide.

Beck worked on that manuscript for four years. During that time, she graduated high school, volunteered as a summer camp counselor, and began pursuing a degree in graphic design. However, in the summer of 2024, she won a $2k grant from The Sunset Project to hire her dream editor: Jennifer Rees, the editor of The Hunger Games.

Beck started posting on social media in 2024 and took a gap year to pursue digital marketing, self-publishing, and launching her debut novel. She has since amassed over 50k followers between Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok.

Her debut novel Noontide was published on June 17th, 2025.

  • It’s a really special thing, I think, growing up in a city that only experiences summer 3 months out of the year. I wanted to create a world that was real, modern, true to life, but also captured the magic that only happens once a year.

Noontide was created from all the stories I read in middle school and high school, and then asking “What if?” A lot of people have compared my books to Percy Jackson, and that’s 100% accurate. But it was never about trying to do the books “better” but instead, asking “What if this happened instead?”

Noontide combines my love of summer, adventure, anxious main characters, and secrets that get buried right underneath our noses.

  • I like to think I’m funny. The real treat was sharing my book with readers and finding out they actually thought I was funny, too. (You never know with stuff like that.)

  • Yes.

I think someone asked an AI that, once. They got an answer, but I can neither confirm nor deny the claims.

  • I would definitely be a Hemlock (Mind and Fire.) For better or for worse, Silas and I happen to be basically the same person. And I’ve always been a bit of a firecracker, so I might as well make it literal.

Though, I did make a BuzzFeed quiz back in the day so my friends could find out which character from Noontide they were. I got Oliver. Do with that what you will.

  • My favorite chapter title is Chapter 9: To Skewer A Guinea Pig.

However, favorite scene would have to be anything between Zech and Harbour. As an older sibling, I really feel for Zech. But as a perfectionist that is constantly trying to prove herself, I really feel for Harbour. The conversations between the two of them always hit me in the gut whenever I read them back.

  • Surprisingly, my favorite book changes all the time. Right now, Will of the Many by James Islington is the top contender.

    Favorite movie is easier: Memento.

  • Always.
